Windsurfing: Hayling Island Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: F 4 - 5 Surf / Sea State: flat ish, chop confused swell Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Looking at the diarys the last time I sailed in salt water was in the
estuary at borth at easter! Think I have turned into pond life (think thats
what us lake sailers get called now)
As is wasn't going to be hugelt windy and low ish tide most of the day
headed for hayling island.
Wind was bit up and down, more down struggled with a 5.8 to get going most
of the time so changed up to a 7.0 much better!
Things not too bad on the inside but as I got further out the confused chop
and swell was a "£^$ing nightmare for a puddle sailer like me plus Im
not used to launching off swell and chop on a starboard tack most of the
time at Brog the ramps of chop are on port tack. Spent most of the runs
going out trying to keep the board on the water Good fun though, most of
the time!
I think I denfinatly need more practice at the coast
Think I managed about 1 gybe in 10 today not used to this up and down stuff
also I found once I was up and going every thing was ok but when I gybed I
just lost the wind I guess I was sailing a lot on apparent wind and was
too scared to go too fast as I was trying to keep the board on the water
rather than flying over it
4 stars would of been 5 if I was better on the bumpy stuff
